Colour : pale yellow colour with green tints.
Nose : citrus aromas, liquorice and eucalyptus, floral notes.
Mouth : the attack is fresh and crispy with a refined minerality and fatness. We notice liquorice aromas on the finish.
"Representing the first vintage of this Rhone giants Alsace project, this Sylvaner is grown on one of the regions highest vineyards. Elegant and pure, the textured palalte shows notes of apple, white fruit. minerals and a mealy hint, punched through with taut acidity." Decanter November 2011 18/20
Although not yet certified, the vineyard is managed under organic and biodynamic precepts to get the best of this unique terroir.
Schieferkopf is a new project developed by Michel Chapoutier with four friends around a 5ha domaine in Bernardvillé, Alsace. A unique blue schist soil gives poise and austerity to the wines coupled with high minerality, which is particularly suitable for Riesling, the dominant variety of Schieferkopf.
