Black Label 1997 Wolfblass Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz
Wolfblass Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz 1997
The 1997 Black Label Cabernet Shiraz is the 25th consecutive vintage of this outstanding Australian red wine.
This is a blend of Langhorne Creek Cabernet Sauvignon (45%), Barossa Valley Shiraz (45%) and Merlot (10%). The individual parcels of fruit were de-stemmed, crushed and fermented in new French (50%) and American (50%) oak. After ferment, the wine is racked, then put back in the same barrels for maturation for a further 26 months.
The first Black Label wine was created back in 1973 and quickly established itself as the flagship. Over time, it has become one of Australia's most awarded wines, winning the Jimmy Watson Trophy an unprecedented four times. The principle behind Black Label never changes, each year it must represent the finest red wine Wolf Blass can make from the best grapes they can source. Lush, ripe berries, a hint of oak and toffee apple and a deeply powerful palate. Traditional roasted meats and game dishes. It will also match superbly with well-aged Australian cheddar.
These bottles have been stored in the UK by wolfblass until 2014. There is some markings to the labels, however the levels of the wine are good and the wine will be drinking brilliantly now.
