We are busy updating to our new name frazier jones wine merchants so you may see the old name in funny places
Gold is rising, but wine is not. With the merger (more details here) and the en primeur tastings being in the first week of Easter, and the 2024 vintage being a relatively poor one (late is never great), it is the first year since COVID that I have not been to Bordeaux to taste en primeur.
Over the past week, I have spoken to those I trust and those I do not. The former talk of 2013, chaptalisation and over extraction, the latter of 2014 and OK wines.
Half of me says in commercial terms that the most profitable vintages are the weaker ones, as in ten years, who remembers? The cheapest vintage on the market! A rising tide lifts all boats. However, this will be true if the wines are to be released at those prices.
So we will not be doing our shilling this year due to the time pressures on the team looking after old and new customers.
However, as the wines are released, we will list them here, with a recommendation based on the above, and if you would like to buy, please just email us enprimeur@fraziers.co.uk . And for the same reasons gold is rising, this vintage won't be selling out.
