Description
Casa Ferreirinha Papa Figos Tinto, Douro, Portugal, NV
Grapes: A blend of 39% Tinta Roriz, 34% Tinta Barroca, 16% Touriga Franca & 11% Touriga Nacional, schist soil, sustainable farming, lightly oaked
Ruby red in colour with violet nuances. On the nose, the wine is bursting with aromas of juicy strawberries, blackberries and cherries along with resin, cedar and a hint of chocolate. On the palate, velvety tannins give a smooth mouthfeel and a lively acidity balances the ripe, red fruit flavours and carries them onto the lingering finish.
Fruit is sourced from high altitude vineyards in the Douro Superior region, with around 25% coming from the Quinta da Leda estate in the far east of the region, close to the border with Spain.
Critic's Tasting Note:
"Lovely floral nuances with aromas of dark plums and hints of coconut. Polished mouthfeel, smooth."
86/100 points, Decanter World Wine Awards, 2024
