Grapes: A blend of 85% Merlot & 15% Cabernet Franc, 2.5ha vineyard on clay/gravel soil, 18 months' barrel ageing (30% new oak)

Chateau La Patache is a small estate within the Pomerol appellation. As would be expected, Merlot is the main grape here making up around 85% of the final wine, with the balance being Cabernet Franc. The wine is full, flavoursome and ageworthy and deservedly well-liked by critics.

Critics' Tasting Notes:

"The 2019 La Patache exhibits aromas of cherries, ripe berries, violets, rich spices and dark chocolate, followed by a full-bodied, velvety and seamless palate that's rich and fleshy, with broad shoulders and a powerful, gourmand profile. This derives from holdings in three sectors: one defined by iron-rich gravels, another by deep, well-drained gravels and the third by soils richer in clay. It's part of Peter Kwok's right bank portfolio." Drink 2025-2045
