Château Puy Blanquet 2012, St Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux, France
Grape variety, a blend of 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. 20% of the wine is aged in oak for 12 months.
This fruity dry red wine has a mid purple red in colour, good fruit on the nose, cherry, raspberry and hints of herbal spice come through from this fresh and generous Saint Emilion. Medium bodied, with good concentration, rich damson and cherry with notes of cedar and tobacco. The tannins on the palate are gentle, and there is a core of pure, juicy red fruit.
"Deepest crimson. Lively, juicy and very moreish. Not terribly long but attractive, chewy, wholesome and digestible." (JH) 16.5/20 JancisRobinson.com
