Ripe and Ready Chateauneuf
Pure Chateauneuf style from an excellent vintage for this house. Full flavoured with plumb, cherry and black currant. Silly smooth tannins and a long finish means this wine is ready to drink now. We got this delivered and left it to rest for three weeks before opening but it could have done with resting for much longer. There was a lot of sediment and had to filter it twice when breathing. It also needs time to open up, we gave it 4-5hrs and it was perfect. Served this on Christmas Day with roast turkey, stuffing etc and it was a great match. Strong enough to stand up to the flavour but not too much. Note: we also served the 2011 vintage at the same time. It displayed similar characteristics to the 2007 though was a little taut by comparison. Likely it will relax with age.
