In France, Colombard is often found blended with the Charentais varieties Ugni Blanc and Folle Blanche for the production of Coganac & Armagnac. It is a relatively neutral tasting grape and is now grown for use in the whites of the Cotes de Gascogne, south-west France, where it makes light, fresh dry white wines for everyday drinking. Here, it's commonly blended with Sauvignon Blanc. Also grown in the New World in California, South Africa and Australia. Try Colombard with baked white fish, or a creamy feta & walnut salad.
