Ethical and Environmental Standing
As a privately owned company, we take our ethical and environmental responsibilities seriously. This page outlines our stance on key social, labour, and environmental issues and reflects our commitment to responsible sourcing and sustainable operations.
Modern Slavery Act Statement
Frazier Jones Wines confirms that there are no instances of modern slavery within our organisation. We are committed to ensuring that slavery and human trafficking do not exist within our supply chains and uphold the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Our approach includes:
Transparent supplier onboarding: All suppliers are required to demonstrate clear and effective safeguards against forced, bonded, or child labour. Particular attention is paid to imports from higher-risk regions outside the UK and EU.
Ongoing supplier monitoring: Our operational managers continually assess risk levels and implement proportionate oversight and due diligence.
Staff awareness and training: Colleagues involved in procurement or supply chain management receive training to identify and prevent potential exploitation.
Fair employment standards: All workers are employed on a voluntary basis, with contracts that clearly outline wages, working hours, and conditions. Employees are free to leave employment with reasonable notice, without penalty.
Zero tolerance for abuse: We do not tolerate any form of violence, harassment, or intimidation in our operations or supply chain relationships.
Fair pay and treatment: Employees are treated with respect and dignity, paid at least the statutory minimum, and given clear and timely information regarding pay and deductions. Overtime is voluntary and within legal limits unless employees opt out by choice.
Our senior leadership team is accountable for ensuring this statement is upheld and supported with appropriate training, resourcing, and oversight.
Sustainability Statement
We do all we can to minimise the environmental impact of our business. We are committed to ongoing improvements in our environmental performance and to meeting all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.
Internal Operations and Resource Efficiency
Packaging practices: We re-use wine boxes where possible and use FSC-compliant cardboard for our packaging. Where new inner packaging is required, we use compostable inserts made from recycled paper.
Lighting and energy usage: Our premises are fitted with LED lighting on PIR sensors to reduce energy consumption when areas are not in use.
Renewable energy and storage: We have installed solar panels to power our climate-controlled wine storage facility, currently producing more electricity than we consume.
Vehicle and transport efficiency: Our company exclusively uses electric cars, while our modern diesel van fleet is maintained for low emissions and efficiency. We plan all delivery routes as efficiently as possible to reduce mileage and emissions.
Recycling, Recovery, and Compliance
Waste and recycling efforts: We actively recycle all cardboard, paper, plastic, and glass that enters our premises. When boxes can’t be reused, we shred them for use as protective packaging materials.
Packaging Waste Regulations Compliance:
Under The Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations 2007, we are a registered packaging producer. Our registration number is NPWD361261, and we are fully compliant through the UK government-approved Packaging Producer Compliance Scheme, Comply Direct.
As part of this, we collate annual data on all packaging we handle, which determines our recycling obligations and recovery targets in line with the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive. This ensures packaging waste generated through our business is minimised, reused, recycled, or recovered wherever possible.
Carbon Offsetting and Broader Sustainability
Tree-planting initiative: We actively plant trees to offset emissions from our diesel van deliveries, company cars, and energy usage in our offices and warehouses.
Travel and emissions reduction: We avoid flights to wine producers whenever possible, favouring rail travel. When air travel is necessary, we offset the associated carbon emissions.
This remains a work in progress, and we are committed to reducing our environmental impact as much as possible through innovation, compliance, and collaboration with responsible partners.
