Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Domaine Rossignol-Trapet, Côte de Nuits, Burgundy, 2013
100% Pinot Noir aged in Oak for over 12 months.
Fine pure cherry fruit. Succulent, scented and delicately long. Fresh, dry, fine-grained finish.
An estate that has been run by the same family for several generations, Domaine Rossignol-Trapet is situated in the very heart of Burgundy, Gevery Chambertin, home of the prestigious grape variety Pinot Noir. Only natural methods have been used in the vineyards and during vinification. This can lead to the presence of light deposits in the wine which in no way alter the taste or hinder its ageing potential. Quality has soared since brothers Nicolas and David Rossignol converted the Domaine to biodynamic viticulture. In particular, the wines display significantly more depth and concentration than when they took over from their father in the 1990s. In 2011, they picked from 3rd to 10th September and vinified with 30% of the stems ‘in order to give extra freshness’ says Nicolas.
