Halfpenny Green Penny Black, England, 2021
Grapes: A blend of Madeleine Angevine and Huxelrebe.
Established in 1983 by the Vickers family in South Staffordshire, Halfpenny Green now has 30 acres of vineyards which are looked after by founder, Martin Vickers. His son, Clive, is the winemaker of these award-winning wines. Sixteen different varieties are planted, most of which are hybrids suitable to the changeable English weather, but classic French grapes are planted for the production of sparkling wines.
Penny Black is aromatic, refined with elegant flavours. It's medium-dry and is recommended to be consumed chilled on its own, or with fish and light meats.
