Hamilton Russell Walker Bay Pinot Noir, Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, Cape of Good Hope, South Africa, 2019
Grape variety, 100% Pinot Noir with 10 months in French Oak Barrels
Due to the fires that hit in 2019 this is a unique vintage in that the wine is just not made from estate fruit. For more information watch the video. A truly outstanding medium to full bodied South African Pinot Noir, sleek and very well structured, complex aromas of cherry, plum and raspberry, together with hints of smoky cedar, earth and cured meat. All followed through in great flavour concentration. A very refined and elegant wine.
Hamilton Russell work exclusively with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Years of soil research have delimited the 53 hectares of stony, clay-rich Bokkeveld shale-derived soils which afford the highest levels of individuality and expression of origin in the wines. Experience has shown that the terroir is best reflected through the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
