Juniper Crossing Chardonnay, Margret River, Western Australia, 2014
100% Chardonnay with 9 months in French oak.
Light straw in colour, this Chardonnay has an attractive nose showing fruit characters of white peach and nectarine, melon and preserved lemon along with floral notes of jasmine plus mineral, cashew, spicy mealy toasty notes from the oak and yeast lees contact. The palate is silky smooth with a succulent fleshy fruit texture, finely structured while finishing crisp and clean with minerally fine acidity.
The grapes for the Juniper Crossing Chardonnay are picked from the vineyard, gently pressed and fermented in French Oak barrels for up to 9 months. The ageing on the yeast lees helps build texture and complexity while the modest amount of new oak provides structure without sacrificing the wonderful fresh fruit aromas and flavours. This wine is made for immediate drinking pleasure or has the potential for medium term cellaring.
