Juniper Estate Chardonnay, Margaret River, Western Australia, 2016
100% Chardonnay hand picked with 10 months in French oak (45% new French barriques)
Delicate floral aromas of jasmine and citrus blossom followed by more complex notes from wild yeast and barrel ferment including mineral, flint, smoky oak and cashew. The fruit profile is nectarine, peach and ripe pear. The palate showcases those characters that mark a top form Margaret River Chardonnay; poised, tight with mouthwatering acidity, balanced by fleshy stone fruit with complexity and intensity.
Why not try with langoustine with lemon & pepper butter?
"The back label acknowledges 'subtle oak influence', which is correct. This is confidently fruit-driven, with grapefruit to the fore, accompanied by white peach and fresh acidity on the long palate. Simply delicious. Drink by 2023 " 92 Points & Special Value James Halliday's Wine Companion 2018
"Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed to barrel, wild yeast fermentation, 10 months in French oak barriques, 40% new. Final quality assessment is the best barrels make the grade. A classy wine with grapefruit, lemon and a hint of melon, laser-like acidity cuts through an already linear palate. There's substance and depth of flavour partly from the lees and oak - beautifully shaped. Drink by 2026." 95 Points James Halliday's Wine Companion 2019
