From 20 year old vines grown in the south facing Arany Sajgó vineyard on volcanic white zeolite soil. Family owned, boutique producer, Kardos, use no herbicides and only minimal pesticides, practising "sustainable" viticulture wherever possible. The winery is located in the town of Mad, Tokaj, which is considered a prime wine making area and the oldest classified wine region in Europe (1737). Gabor Kardos Jr took over the winemaking from his father in 2008, modernising viticulture and vinification practices to increase quality.
The wine is pale green in colour with an intense nose. Fresh, with notes of gooseberry, pear and lime. which follow through on the palate. Dry and beautifully crisp with an elegant minerality which keeps the wine in balance.
