Description
Te Awa Left Field Malbec, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand, 2019
Grape: 100% Malbec from two parcels in the Gimblett Gravels area of Hawke's Bay. Aged 10 months in French and American oak.
A really brooding, velvety textured, deep Malbec with upfront blackberry fruit followed by a generous note of liquorice, Christmas cake spices and dark chocolate. The 2019 vintage was one of the finest on record with the berries developing abnormally thick skins with an abundance of colour and flavour.
4 Stars - Bob Campbell MW Wine Reviews
89/100 points - Natalie Maclean Wine Reviews - "A juicy, supple, luscious New Zealand red wine made from the Malbec grape, which is usually more associated with Argentina. However, this rendition is lovely with lots of fleshy black plum flavours"
92/100 points - Decanter World Wine Awards, 2021
Pair with grilled and roasted red meats, pizza & pasta, casseroles & stews, mature strong cheeses.
