Blandy's Sercial Madeira 1966
A topaz colour with golden reflections. Intense and complex characteristic bouquet of Madeira, with dried fruits, wood and orange peel. Dry and fresh with a long and warn aftertaste.
Most Madeira is non-vintage and made from Tinta Negra. Tinta Negra accounts for around 80% of the planting in Madeira. the Noble Varieties are used for the naturally aged wines. Reserve wines (aged for at least five years must be 85% of a noble variety to carry its name) are the first vintage wines. Then Special Reserve (10 Years), Extra Reserve (15 Years), and Vintage (20 Years). Also you can get a Colhetia which is a single harvest wine with less than 20 years cask aging.
Madeiras should be stored standing upright as the natural acidity in the wine will over time damage the cork.
