Grape: 100% Pinot Noir, oaked

The wine is made from Pinot Noir grapes and 80% is aged in typical Burgundy barrels of 228 litres for a year, with the balance in stainless steel. A beautiful dark ruby colour. The nose opens up with notes of fresh red fruits and spices. Very pleasant on the palate, this wine has a round and fruity attack before revealing its fine and silky tannins. This is a well balanced wine with a long aromatic finish. Fine wine indeed.

Château de Chamirey is owned by the Devillard family and is one of the finest estates of Mercurey. There are 37 hectares of vineyards, much of which is Premier Cru including the monopoles of La Mission, Les Ruelles and Clos du Roi. To maintain their high quality the domaine regularly declassifies as much as 30% of the production from Premier Cru to village wine. So this red Ch. de Chamirey includes no less than three declassified Premiers Crus, Clos L’Eveque, Sazenay and Champ Martin and as a result is far better than one might expect from the appellation alone.
