Joven is an unoaked, fresh style of Rioja. A deep colour, intense red-purple hue, dark red tear, clean and bright. Abundantly perfumed aromas of red forest fruits, raspberries, redcurrants, spices (black pepper and liquorice), gentle hints of flowers and milk caramel, slight mineral undertones such as one associates with Graciano. In the mouth, it combines intensity with smoothness, well rounded tannins, abundant fruit, black liquorice, length and pleasant aftertaste.
Made from organic grapes, it is exceptionally well balanced with a reduced sulphur content. An easy drinking, terrific value Rioja from the much lauded organic producer Bagordi.
Food Match: Ideal with grilled meats, stews and wild fowl.
