Nyetimber Brut Tillington, English Sparkling Wine, West Sussex, England, 2013

76% Pinot Noir, 24% Chardonnay

Single vineyard wine from Nyetimber. Pleasingly pale, with a fine bead of soft, well-integrated bubbles that fill the nose with aromas of wild strawberry, some perky red berries and a very gentle, soothingly doughy, autolytic note. In the mouth the fine brightness continues, this is not heavy nor too firm but there is a gentle intensity and then a wonderful soft feel, which is so inviting. There's great elegance too, a mineral drive gives a muscular push that counters the warm softer side perfectly. Leaving an impressive imprint on your palate.

"A blend of 76% Pinot Noir and 24% Chardonnay that was disgorged in July 2017, the 2013 Brut Tillington Single Vineyard opens in the glass with an exotic bouquet of musky peaches, mandarin, honeycomb and mango. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered, with good depth and dimension at the core, ripe but racy acids and an aromatic finish. To my palate, this gives Nytimber's cuvée 1086 a run for its money." 92/100 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, April 2020.

A special occasion wine that cries out for the best monkfish, lobster, turbot or chicken.
