Roda I Reserva Rioja, Spain, 2005
85% Tempranillo, 9% Graciano and 6% Garnacha. Aged in 40% brand new and 60% second use, French oak barrels. 14 months in barrels and 30 months cellaring in bottle.
Deep red, bright and brilliant colour, with a light red colour background. The nose is very expressive of live red fruit. Sensations of fresh cherry, light spices and some earthy wet notes. The palate exhibits medium volume, light but fresh, red fruit, fine tannins. Very delicate and very long.
Serve at room temperature with venison medallions and puréed winter root vegetables.
"Very sophisticated wine. Dark, subtle, smooth. Complex, flattering, sweet with autumnal, pruney depths" Jancis Robinson 17.5/20 jancisrobinson.com
