Description
Sauvignon de Touraine Joel Delaunay, Loire, France, 2024
Grape: 100% Sauvignon Blanc, stony flint/clay soil, sustainable farming, 60hl/ha yield, 3 months' ageing on fine lees with “bâtonnage”, unoaked
Producer Tasting Note:
Pale lemon in colour with a powerful, expressive and complex nose (exotic fruits, blackcurrant buds, grapefruit, peach) as well as some floral notes. Well-balanced, long and rich on the palate. Seductively fresh and fruity.
Estate bottled since 1970, Thierry Delaunay is the fifth generation to run this family-owned domaine. They first bottled under screwcap in 2004 and practice sustainable viticulture across all their 34 hectares of vineyards. This remarkably fine and complex Sauvignon Blanc is full of character and depth, with lovely balance.
Food Match: Drink chilled (10°C) with fish, oysters and other seafood, or as an aperitif.
