Vinhao (Sousao) is a dark skinned grape variety originating from the Iberian peninsula. It produces deeply coloured, but light lextured wines, high in acidity. Also grown in the Douro (Portugal) and in Galicia (Spain) where it's known as Sousao. Mostly grown for use in the lightly sparkling red and rosé versions of Vinho Verde. Pair with sardines and dishes using a spicy tomato sauce.
