Wolf Blass Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz Malbec 2013
Wolf Blass Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz Malbec 2013, South Australia
Grape variety, a blend of Langhorne Creek Cabernet Sauvignon, Barossa Valley Shiraz and Malbec.
The elite parcels of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon selected for Wolf Blass Black Label are brought together to form a perfect storm of concentrated power. This wine is the darling of collectors as a result, and it should be yours with its magnificent ability to be a rich and concentrated when young and a wonderfully balanced amalgam of flavours with a touch of bottle age. Sublime!
"An archetypal Black Label, which over many decades continues to deliver. This intensely fruited with lashings of oak to support. With its almost impenetrable colour, it is set for a very long life. The palate is where it all comes together with a mouth coating array of fruits, oak and tannins. Super long." 96 points www.winecompanion.com.au
Enjoy with traditional roasted meats and game dishes, it will also match superbly with well-aged cheddar.
The first Black Label wine was created back in 1973 and quickly established itself as the flagship. Over time, it has become one of Australia's most awarded wines, winning the Jimmy Watson Trophy an unprecedented four times. The principle behind Black Label never changes, each year it must represent the finest red wine Wolf Blass can make from the best grapes they can source. The individual parcels of fruit were de-stemmed, crushed and fermented in new French and American oak. After ferment, the wine is racked, then put back in the same barrels for maturation for a further 26 months.
