Wines from Uruguay are to be found on more and more consumers' lists of exciting bottles to try. With the red Tannat grape being the most planted variety by some margin, it's the wine you're most likely to experience as it's produced by winemakers all across the country. Other reds, such as the Italian Nebbiolo, also contribute to the burgeoning reputation of the growers in this small, South American country. White wines are also becoming much more widely distributed with the Albarino being a notable success when grown in the southern Canelones region near Montevideo. Pablo Fallabrino, whose family orignates from Piedmont in Italy, is a winemaking genius! Do not miss his wines, they're brilliant.
