Grape: 100% Shiraz, aged 18 months in new and one year old French (50%) & American (50%) oak barrels 

Seductive aromas of blackberry, plum with underlying notes of white pepper, cedar & Christmas cake spice. The palate is rich, silky and concentrated with elegant dark fruit flavours. The spice carries through to the palate, backed by intensely powerful tannins and integrated oak characters.

The Barossa Valley Wine Company was esatblished in the hamlet of Lyndoch in 2001. "Stockyard" celebrates the 100+ year old stone ruin on our historic Farms vineyard. Originally an outbuilding for livestock, today it occupies a much more serene position overlooking rows of low-yielding Shiraz.

Sourced from premium parcels on the vineyard, very often any barrels which don’t quite make the quality level of "Farms" are blended into "Stockyard", hence its nickname, 'Baby Farms'! Its slightly elevated vineyard location and red loam and rock soils (lithosols, Terra Rossa and Terra Fusca) combine to create a delicious, full-bodied Shiraz. Limited in release, with yields of only eight to nine tonnes per hectare, once picked, it's fermented in two to five tonne open top fermenters at cool temperatures for 10 days, with winemaker Roxanne Kloppers aiming for a ''Showy” style of wine, with lifted, bright fruit aromas on the nose and a balanced, silky palate.
