Chateau De Fleurie La Madone Loron 2020

Château De Fleurie "La Madone" Loron, Fleurie, Beaujolais, France, 2020     

Grapes: 100% Gamay, handpicked and hand sorted, 1.2ha vineyard with steep slopes of sandy/granite soil up to a metre in depth. 60% whole cluster ferment. To extract more body, colour and tannins the maceration lasts about 20 days in wooden vats covered by a “chapeau grillé”. 8-9 months vat ageing.

This Fleurie wine has an intense amaranthine/purple colour with garnet reflections. The nose offers a perfect alchemy between light, floral notes of Peony and intense aromas of red berries. The mouth reveals raspberry fruit and silky tannins offering good ageing potential.

"Named after the chapel at the top of the hill, this vineyard can, as here, produce some ageworthy wines. This wine is young, still structured with layers of black fruits over tannins. It needs to mature further. Drink from 2025."

We have been fans of Chateau Fleurie for generations here at Frazier's and so have our customers. Here we have the La Madone which is a special cuvee from a small climat (vine plot, with its own microclimate and specific geological conditions) in Fleurie and at only a few pounds more than the regular Chateau Fleurie is a fantastic bargain for the quality of wine. Fill your boots. 

Fleurie is always a winner with charcuterie such as patés, terrines, rillettes and saucisson sec and with soft, white-rinded cheeses such as Brie and Camembert. It's also a highly versatile wine that can easily take you through a meal where people are ordering different things.
