Grape: Chenin Blanc from three separate vineyard parcels, sweet wine (184g/L residual sugar), hand picked, only 5-6 bunches per vine at harvest, fermented and aged in barrel.

Coteaux de l’Aubance takes its name from the tributary of the Loire river, Aubance. It is situated south of the town of Angers and directly north of Coteaux du Layon. In the late summer the morning mist from the Aubance tributary infects the grapes with noble rot making some of the finest sweet wines in the Loire. The Lebretons' sweet wines are outstanding and they deserve to be better known. The property has three parcels of land from which they make their extraordinary wines, and Les Trois Schistes is a blend of all three. Quite gorgeous. 

In its youth, this wine displays a nuanced yellow colour which, little by little, gives way to amber hues. Behind the first notes of white flowers, this Coteaux de l'Aubance offers everything in a bouquet of fruits: quince jelly, candied apricots, passion fruit and pineapple mingle with a background of honey, candied citrus fruits and vanilla. A perfect expression of the terroir with finesse, elegance and freshness. Full bodied, but with a delicacy on the palate, these are the primary qualities of this Trois Schistes. A perfect balance between sweetness, acidity and liveliness predisposes an excellent wine of long keeping and a sign of great vintages.
