Wynns, The Siding, Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra, South Australia, 2021
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon
On the nose, engaging ripe cherries and brambles are elevated by savoury lavender and spice. Youthful and alluring palate, with a plush, almost bright texture. Dark berries are enveloped in cedar, earthy and spice. The structure is classic Cabernet, malleable tannins follow the contours of the palate creating a seamless profile, balanced with fresh acid.
"The aim of this wine is to deliver a leading affordable Cabernet Sauvignon, showcasing exceptional varietal and regional characteristics of red cherry, mint and dark berry flavours, while an array of gentle tannins will further reward from short to medium term cellaring" - Sue Hodder, Winemaker.
With a winery built originally in 1896, Wynns have long been known for their superb Cabernet Sauvignon planted on the unique strip of "Terra Rossa" soil of the Coonawarra in South Australia. "The Siding" is named after the local railway landmark. Sue Hodder, winemaker, says "The aim of the wine is to deliver a leading affordable Cabernet Sauvignon, showcasing exceptional varietal and regional characteristics". Job done!
