South Australia is responsible for half of Australia's wine production. Riverland irrigated by the Murray River is dominated by the mass producers Oxford Landing and Banrock Station and the wines are ideally suited to oak chips not long maturation. The areas which interest wine lovers are the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Clare Valley and Langhorne Creek.
